Harriett Potter and the cupboard under the stairs

Maddy and Tenley have a love hate relationship in sharing a bedroom.  They have gone back and forth from sharing rooms and having their own rooms.  They fight when they share a room and then when they have separate rooms they get lonely and want to sleep in the same room together.  Maddy's frustation lies in the fact that Tenley is messier than she is and Maddy likes a neat a tidy room.  Our current living arrangements, at my parent's, have allowed them to share a room for quite some time.  Not only are they sharing a room, but it is a much smaller room so even a small mess makes it look much worse than it is.  Lately, the frequency and intensity of these arguments have increased.  It seems that it has been happening on a daily basis the past week.  On Friday, the straw that broke the camel's back was laid (or lain).  Maddy shouted out that she HATES sharing a room, she wants her OWN room and she is NOT going to share with Tenley anymore.  So we proceeded to tell her that she could choose to go in the storage room, the game closet or the playroom, which is under the stairs.  Her eyes lit up, and she said, "Really? I can move in the playroom?".  We, thinking this was all in jest, said, "Yes".  Friday afternoon, the kids, cleaned out, vacuumed and organized the playroom.  I don't know how she recruited the other kids to help her but she did it.  Maybe they were intrigued with the idea of having a sister live under the stairs.  She moved a sleeping pad, her stuffed animals and slept there Friday night.  Norm enjoyed waking her up Saturday morning by stomping on the stairs above her and shouting "Wake up Harriet".  Hopefully not too much dust fell down on her.  So, in the future, if you need to contact Maddy, you may send her a letter addressed to :  Madison Warren, The Cupboard Under the Stairs, 6423 S.
